Teen Apocalypse Trilogy

I'm really inspired by Gregg Araki's Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy right now....

TOTALLY FUCKED UP
THE DOOM GENERATION
NOWHERE

Youth tribes, L.A., shoegaze, industrial, drug trips, religious parody, sexxx, love, and EVERYTHING.  It kind of bums me out that these movies just get thrown into the 'Queer Cinema' genre because it sort of shunts them to the side, when really all teenagers should be watching these.  And can we talk about how excellent these shirts are?

TECHNICOLOR (Because You're Young)

DIY crayola hair.  Fun for all, all for fun.  It's summer for crissakes.

METHOD I: "The Ziggy"
Difficulty: Medium
Ingredients: Hair bleach, Manic Panic dyes
If you aren't platinum blonde, you have to bleach your hair for the color to be vibrant.  Follow the directions on the bleach you got.  If you wash the bleach out and your hair isn't light enough, wait a week or two before you put more bleach in or your hair WILL fall out.

Manic Panic that shit.  I suggest picking colors your sister would have liked in the 2nd grade.  If you want a pastel-y look, I've heard mixing the color with conditioner to thin it out makes it paler.
METHOD II: "Suicide"
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients: Kool-Aid
If of course you can't be bothered to go into a store and buy dye, pull a Cobain and soak your hair in a vat of Kool-Aid.  This will only work if you already have blonde hair.
METHOD III: "Fuck All"
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients: Colored powder
So for this you can use powdered make up or powdered hair dye (I guess they make that now?).  Or try powdered Gatorade maybe.  I wouldn't recommend using paint pigment unless you're positive it's non-toxic.  Remember kids, cadmium kills.  This is easy-peasy, chuck some powder on your head and muss it up and shake out the excess.  You don't necessarily need blonde hair to do this, but it will come out way better.  (warning: this will stain your clothes and anything else you walk near when you go out, but that can be fun)

METHOD IV: "Last Resort"
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients: Eggs, Spray color
I mean you don't have to use raw eggs to spike your hair, but if you wanna go hardcore "Freaks and Geeks" go for it.  The spray hair color is pretty self-explanatory.
NOTE: Whatever method you try, you pretty much have to listen to The Stooges while you do it.  Eatshitdye!

Now that summer is here in all its humid glory,
it's the perfect time to rock the Jesus & Mary Chain
fucked up, frizzed up hairdo.

Comb roots up around the base, fluff the top, and let the humidity do all the work.

DIY GLAMOUR

Glamour is spontaneity.
Glamour is a look on your face that says "Fuck yeah, this is who I am"
Glamour is and will always be lying with your feet up on a couch,
shoes on, shirt unbuttoned.
Glamour is setting the world on fire, literally and figuratively.
Glamour is pretending you don't care
while secretly blowing people's minds.
Glamour is flirting with everyone.
Glamour is five thousand explosions and a supernova.
Glamour is taking off your sunglasses last. (Except in lovemaking)
Glamour is and will always be a black tie, a black suit, and a young face.
Glamour is running through the streets at night.
Get yourself a long coat.
Glamour is above all, an unabashed expression of personal style,
twitchy trigger finger, safety off.
